* $98,265 – $105,798 pa (plus 11.5% super and annual pay increases)

Job Description

Your new career
Join our Road Strategy team and help shape the future of transport in the Surf Coast region. As part of the Assets and Engineering Department, our team leads the strategic planning and management of Council’s road network, working to deliver a safe and integrated transport system that encourages movement beyond car use.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering road safety and traffic management projects, providing expert transport engineering advice, and supporting planning and funding opportunities that enable high-quality infrastructure outcomes across our Shire.


What you will bring to the role
We are currently looking for a Traffic Engineer who is dedicated in delivering road safety and traffic management projects that make a positive impact on the lives of our local community members and their families.

To be successful in this role you will have:

* good engineering knowledge
* to be able to work within a multi-discipline team
* good understanding of standards and technical guidelines

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

* Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification (Qualification Check conducted)
* Experience in municipal or civil engineering field of minimum two years
* Experience in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, recognised professional standards relating to traffic management and civil engineering
* Experience in planning and developing work programs, including monitoring, reviewing and reporting to supervisor
* Experience in a local government environment.
* A current Working With Children Check
* You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
* Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council).
A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
