Job Title: Mechanical Fitter / Rigger
Location: Cruachan, Scotland (Accommodation provided)
Pay Rate: Base £22.20
Hours: Up to 60 hours per week, 6 days
Overtime: £28.86 (T1.3x) paid after 38 hours per week

Summary of Project
This project involves maintenance, assembly, and installation of critical components for MIV (Main Inlet Valve), turbines, and generators. As a Mechanical Fitter/Rigger, you will perform mechanical duties and support rigging operations using certified techniques, ensuring safety and efficiency on site.
Candidate Specification
You are a self-motivated and skilled mechanical fitter with rigging experience, qualified to ECITB Level 2 or 3 standards.
You have practical knowledge of hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels. Comfortable with technical drawings and safety-critical environments, you contribute to lifting operations and machinery installation with care. Your understanding of UK safety regulations helps you work effectively within a team, maintaining high safety standards.
Job Duties
1. Conduct maintenance, disassembly, and assembly of MIV, turbine, and generator components.
2. Support and carry out rigging operations.
3. Select, inspect, and safely use lifting gear and rigging equipment for various loads.
4. Perform load assessments and determine appropriate rigging methods based on weight, shape, and lift points.
5. Signal and direct crane or lifting operations using hand signals or radio communication.
6. Use and maintain mechanical tools and equipment, including hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels.
7. Identify and resolve mechanical faults to restore equipment to working condition.
8. Interpret and follow engineering drawings, lifting plans, and assembly instructions.
9. Assist with installation, alignment, commissioning, and surface protection of mechanical systems.
10. Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring rigging operations follow safety rules and regulations.
11. Comply with UK safety regulations and project-specific health and safety procedures.
Requirements
* Essential:
* NVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Installation, or equivalent
* ECITB Level 2 or 3 Rigger certification (or equivalent)
* Proven rigging experience in industrial or heavy mechanical environments
* Strong mechanical fitting background, including maintenance and assembly
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
* Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Basic electrical components understanding relevant to mechanical installations
* Suitable safety training and certification, e.g., CSCS card or equivalent
* Self-motivated, reliable, able to work independently or in a team
* Strong awareness of health and safety regulations and procedures
Desirable:
* MJI certification (Mechanical Joint Integrity)
* Experience working on turbines, generators, or hydro equipment
* Experience in confined space or working at height
