Role Responsibility:
We are seeking a proactive, ambitious, and dynamic individual to join our expanding technical team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in asphalt technology, with experience in pavement design and construction. You should be comfortable leading from the front in a customer-facing role and thinking outside the box.
Reporting to the Head of Technical, you will be responsible for the Midlands and North region, working closely with contracts and operations managers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Overall management of the area, leading asphalt materials and pavement design expertise
2. Providing support to Sales, Operations, and Contracting teams
3. Engaging with customers during initial contract negotiations to support the commercial team
4. Cost reduction engineering, including reviewing specifications and advising on cost savings through material choices and specification alterations
5. Leading complaint investigations and being the first point of contact for material or laying issues
6. Conducting site audits of laying operations, including site testing
7. Supporting sales and operational teams with onsite and pre-start issues
8. Creating and monitoring Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
9. Vetting specifications
10. Training internal sales, QS, and operational staff
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
* Full driving license
* Experience in asphalt technology
* Experience in pavement design and construction
* Knowledge of testing methods for asphalt and cement-bound granular materials
* Familiarity with SHW, BS EN, ISO 17025, and other relevant standards
* Experience in dispute resolution
* Strong IT and report writing skills, fully proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
