Role Responsibility: We are looking for a proactive, ambitious and dynamic person to join our expanding technical team. The ideal candidate will not only be an expert in asphalt technology, but also experienced in pavement design and construction. The role requires someone who thinks outside the box and is comfortable leading from the front in a customer facing role. Reporting to the Head of Technical you will be responsible for the Midlands and North region, working closely with the contracts and operations managers. Key Responsibilities: Overall management of the area and leading asphalt materials, and pavement design expert Provision of support to Sales, Operations and contracting Customer facing, involved with initial stages of contract negotiations supporting the commercial team. Cost reduction engineering – Review specifications, advising on cost saving through material choice, ToppBase usage, specification alterations etc Complaint investigation lead, first point of contact for any material/laying issues Carry out site audits of laying operations, including site testing. Support sales and operational teams with onsite and pre-start issues ITP creation and monitoring Specification vetting Training of internal sales, QS and operational staff The Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and attributes: Full driving license Experienced in Asphalt technology. Experience of pavement design and construction Knowledge of testing methods of asphalt and cement bound granular material Familiar with SHW, BS EN, ISO 17025 and other relevant standards Experience of dispute resolution Strong IT and report writing skills.
