Maternity Services are provided across three sites, offering women and staff four birthing environments: home, freestanding birth centre, alongside birth centre, and obstetric labour ward.
The Prince Charles Site (Level 2) underwent major refurbishment in 2019. It offers obstetric care and has an alongside midwifery-led unit, with three pools, a bereavement room, and an enhanced environment for women and staff.
At the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, there is a free-standing midwifery-led unit providing a tranquil, supportive environment for women and staff to birth in a home-like setting.
Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, is a Level 2 Maternity Unit. It offers low-risk women the opportunity to labour and birth in the Bluebell Suite, an alongside Midwifery Led room, and a newly refurbished Birthing Pool room on the obstetric unit. It also supports women requiring increased surveillance during labour.
Midwives in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board can gain experience across all units and community settings. We aim to accommodate their first choice of base where possible. All employment contracts are Health Board-wide.
Welsh Skills (Desirable): This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable, meaning Welsh language skills are an advantage but not essential. Candidates should have Level 3 (CEFR B2) speaking and listening skills, enabling basic conversations with patients about their health.
