In this Accommodation Support Officer opportunity in Coventry, you will join a charity whose purpose is to help individuals gain independence and follow a positive pathway out of homelessness.
Key responsibilities
In this Accommodation Support Officer role, your responsibilities will include:
* Managing a caseload of 8-12 individuals at a time, creating 1:1 support plans to promote independent living.
* Assisting with finances, budgeting, cooking skills, laundry, job applications, and re-engagement with education.
* Supporting individuals with bidding for housing and setting up benefits, alongside independent living skills.
* Planning activities or workshops to provide information, advice, and guidance for those living out of temporary accommodation.
* Booking and attending appointments.
* Helping individuals overcome external barriers such as mental health issues, domestic violence, substance misuse, or learning disabilities, and encouraging engagement with external agencies for support.
* Tracking payments for housing, service charges, rent, etc.
Skills & experience
* Proven experience working as an Accommodation Support Officer or in supported housing, with up-to-date knowledge of housing legislation.
* Willingness to travel across the Coventry area; a care driver license is highly desired but not essential.
* Enhanced DBS clearance for both child and adult on the update service.
* Flexibility to work 5 days over 7, including shift work.
