Job Overview

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM STAFF CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY ANEURIN BEVAN UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD

The post holder will provide day‑to‑day supervision and coordination of the Diagnostic Cardiology Booking Team across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) sites, ensuring the delivery of a high‑quality, patient‑centred administrative service. The role involves supporting the management of staff through effective allocation of duties, monitoring workloads, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels in line with service needs.

The post holder will support staff development through guidance, training, and ongoing supervision, contributing to a motivated, organised, and efficient team. They will promote a positive working environment, address routine performance issues, and escalate concerns appropriately in accordance with organisational procedures.

A key element of the role is the coordination and management of patient waiting lists, supporting the achievement of Diagnostic Referral to Treatment (RTT) targets and the effective use of clinic capacity. Through proactive organisation and communication, the post holder will help reduce waiting times, improve patient flow, and ensure timely access to cardiology diagnostic services.

The role operates within a large, multidisciplinary cardiology service and involves close working with Physiologists, Consultants, Secretarial teams, and Directorate Support Managers to support the smooth running of the service. Flexibility is required, including occasional weekend working and travel across ABUHB sites.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

A Team Leader’s primary purpose is to lead a team to deliver results efficiently and to a high standard, while ensuring individuals feel supported, motivated, and clear about their responsibilities. All work will be carried out in line with Health Board and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and confidentiality. The post holder will act as a key point of contact for staff, patients, and other stakeholders, responding to queries in a professional and timely manner.

Experience


Essential criteria

* Detailed knowledge and experience of WPAS, CWS and Qlik.
* Detailed knowledge and experience of RTT and government set guidelines.
* Understanding of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) policies and procedures including HR
* Experience of dealing with all levels of staff and the public.
* Supervisory management experience


Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of Welsh Government and JCVI guidance.


Qualifications & Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Educated to Diploma level or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Knowledge of booking systems and processes
