Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Water Quality Assistant with a friendly and positive “can do” attitude to join our expanding team. You will perform work of a routine non‑complex nature and be responsible for flushing all hot and cold water outlets within the NHS and Trust owned or run properties in the surrounding area.
You will be working in a team that prides itself on their standards of work while carrying out varied works with an emphasis on quality finish to meet with our customer’s high expectations.
Duties can include carrying out PPMs related to water system assets and communicating with work colleagues and managers throughout the Trust regarding work to be carried out using all relevant tools and equipment.
You will be actively participating in the operation of the Maintenance Management System and be involved in training with fast response.
Main duties of the job
Performs work of a routine nature, responsible for minor repairs and routine planned maintenance activities as directed by management.
Responsible for flushing hot and cold water outlets and taking water samples in all areas of the Trust for legionella as directed by legislation and management.
Must be able to work as part of a team.
Ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
Taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
Responsible for day to day coordination of flushing all hot and cold water outlets in accordance with current statutory and legislative regulations.
Carry out PPMs related to water system assets.
Assist qualified Craftspersons on repair work, PPM work and installation.
Work is managed by the individual when on site in accordance with relative occupational policies and guidelines.
Use all relevant tools and equipment.
Communicate with work colleagues and managers throughout the Trust regarding work to be carried out.

* Relevant experience of working in a maintenance environment
* Worked in a hospital or Ward environment
Knowledge
* Basic knowledge of hot and cold water systems and associated equipment
* Be familiar with hot and cold water systems and appliance
* Be aware and have an understanding of safe systems of work and current legislation
* Aware of working within safe systems of work and current legislation
* Knowledge of HTMs
Skills
* Be able to follow time table of work
* Must be able to communicate to patients, managers and staff in a clear concise manner
* Use radio devices and be computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
