About the Role
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Bankside College school. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neuro‑divergent or have SEMH needs. You will operate within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and be responsible for holding a speech and language therapy caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to pupils.
* Maintain a full clinical caseload and produce high‑quality risk assessments, hearing, vision and speech reports, voicing risk reviews, and intervention plans.
* Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on strategies for improving pupil outcomes, and review voice across the school.
* Attend and contribute to staff meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings and other relevant professional development sessions.
* Use the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to set objectives and produce program notes for new assessments or ongoing intervention.
* Support the development and delivery of a curriculum‑based speech and language component to improve pupils’ overall educational experience.
* Share best practice with peers through case studies, research projects and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy (BSc (Hons) or equivalent).
* Current HCPC registration.
* 1–2 years’ experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting.
* Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neuro‑diversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience in multidisciplinary working across a range of educational settings.
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with excellent relationship‑building ability.
* Time‑management and organisational skills suitable for an independent specialist day school environment.
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of legislation relevant to clinical practice and professional management for the pupil group.
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to this client group.
* Full valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences influencing communication strengths and needs.
* Evidence of recognising the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
Salary & Hours
Salary: £33,000 pro‑rata (dependent on experience).
Hours: 15 hours per week, flexible on which 2 days are selected.
Contract: Permanent (term‑time only, with flexibility based on circumstances).
