Job Description
Senior Waste Consultant in our Nuclear team responsible for delivering nuclear waste management projects across both international and UK-based engagements. The role requires developing and completing projects from inception to delivery, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
* Lead complex nuclear waste management projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
* Provide technical leadership and expertise in nuclear waste management, including waste characterization, treatment, storage, and disposal.
* Develop and implement waste management strategies, plans, and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
* Conduct technical assessments, risk evaluations, and feasibility studies to support project decision‑making.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
* Prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, and documentation to clients and stakeholders.
* Advise clients on regulatory compliance, policy development, and strategic planning related to nuclear waste management.
* Conduct analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources and perform inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
* Participate in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives and develop corrective measures and procedures.
Qualifications
* Project and financial management experience.
* Commercial awareness for business development and proposal preparation.
* Strong communication skills in English and solid numeracy skills.
* Self‑starter who can design and deliver work under own initiative.
* Experience in radioactive waste management, particularly with UK nuclear licensed sites and waste facilities.
* Consulting and project management experience within the nuclear sector.
* Exposure to nuclear decommissioning studies and development of decommissioning strategies.
* Desirable experience in environmental permitting, compliance, safety cases, and regulation of radioactive substances.
