Job Summary
Pharmacy Technician – Kent and Medway Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS). This role delivers comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in both community and inpatient mental health settings, supporting a multidisciplinary team in Kent and Medway.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a high‑quality clinical pharmacy service to CYPMHS, optimising patient outcomes and supporting care pathways.
* Perform medicines reconciliation, discharge planning, patient counselling, and medicines supply.
* Support community clinic pharmacy services and use EPMA/medicines informatics systems.
* Complete physical health checks for children and young people on psychotropic medication.
* Contribute to audits, teaching and training, and promote improvements in the quality, safety and cost‑effectiveness of medicines use.
* Support safe transition of patients across care settings, ensuring continuity and seamless pharmaceutical care.
Essential Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent.
* Registered with the GPhC.
* Minimum of 12 months post‑qualification experience, including experience in a clinical/ward environment.
* Working within a multidisciplinary team and linking primary and secondary care.
* Interest in children and young people’s mental health.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
Desirable Requirements
* Accredited Medicines Management qualification.
* Accredited Accuracy Checking qualification.
* Basic life support/first aid training.
* Experience working with children or in mental health settings.
* Experience in education and training of pharmacy staff or other health‑care professionals.
* Understanding of mental health prescribing issues and project management skills.
Key Knowledge & Skills
* Advanced IT literacy, especially Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Good understanding of primary and secondary care systems.
* Strong communication, presentation and practical problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload and coordinate multiple complex activities.
* Teamwork and the ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
Working Conditions
Permanent, full‑time contract based at Kent and Medway CYPMHS in Canterbury, with periodic travel to other sites.
