We are now looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed Lawyer to join our Adult Social Care legal team providing comprehensive legal support to deliver the very best outcomes for the people of Barnsley.
As a Lawyer within the Adult Social Care team you will:
* Have post qualification experience in Adult Social Care/Court of Protection or other relevant area
* The ability to represent the council and manage a caseload of Court of Protection matters, including but not limited to, section 16 welfare, section 21A challenges and community deprivation of liberty
* Provide legal advice across a range of Adult Social Care matters, including ordinary residence disputes; mental health and mental capacity related queries; safeguarding matters; and social care charging
* Demonstrate a working knowledge of legislation relevant to the area in particular the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 and Care Act 2014, along with associated guidance
* Draft court applications, position statements, court orders and other associated documentation
* Liaise with external agencies and partners as required
