Role overview
We are looking to engage with a Senior Structural Engineer / Inspector who is suitably qualified and experienced in delivering structural inspection training for Levels 1 & 2 Inspectors and Site Managers. This would be predominantly online WFH, initial 20 days (and growing) with classes up to 12 on any given day. This contract will suit an individual who has an established client base and is looking to grow their portfolio.
Responsibilities
* Create training materials, modules, and certification programs related to structural inspections, including topics like building codes, materials science, safety standards (e.g., HSE guidelines), and non-destructive testing techniques
* Conduct both theoretical (classroom/online) and practical, hands-on training sessions for Structural Inspectors levels 1 & 2 and site managers
* Provide on-site supervision and mentorship, accompanying inspectors during actual site visits to offer real-time guidance and ensure proper procedures are followed
* Develop and administer assessments to monitor trainee progress, evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, and ensure all participants meet the required competency levels and standards
* Maintain accurate records of all training activities, attendance, and outcomes. Prepare detailed reports for management, clients, and regulatory bodies as required
* Ensure all training content is current and aligned with national standards, legislation, and industry best practices
Qualifications
* Civil Engineering, Structural, Construction, Surveying Degree or HNC/HND
* Member of a professional institution, ICE or IStructE or CABE (Chartered Association of Building Engineers)
Required Skills
* A strong background in construction, civil engineering, or structural engineering, with expert knowledge of inspection processes, building codes, and safety requirements.
* Demonstrable experience teaching complex information to individuals with varying skill levels
* Excellent communication & presentation skills both f2f & remote
* A valid driving license is often essential for travel to various inspection and training sites.
Pay range and compensation package
£500 per day (outside IR35) + WFH / site-based split + mileage & accommodation as required
