We are recruiting for a Clinical Skills Trainer (RGN) to deliver in-house clinical and mandatory training to support workers, Bank Nurses and other relevant staff, and to assess/sign off Support Workers as competent in neurogenic bowel management.
Active Care Group training is delivered in line with organisational values and requirements as per sector standards.
What you'll be working:
1. Working ;days a week
2. Monday - Friday
*** This role is part of the Learning & Development Team, supporting across the group in the North
*** Must be willing to travel with overnight stays required
What you'll be doing:
3. Train and assess Support Workers, Bank Nurses and other relevant staff in neurogenic bowel management.
4. The training is a delegated task to predominately non-clinical colleagues. This is to train them in the skills to be able to undertake neurogenic bowel management for our clients/patients/residents living in their own homes in the community or residing at one of our services.
5. Deliver group or one to one training sessions at the Leicester training venue.
6. Preparation and management of the learning environment/ resources to maximize the learner experience
7. Update specialist knowledge and skills in line with current best practice guidelines
8. Contribute to the review of training and development resources and content
9. Attend and contribute to team meetings and other meetings as required
10. Maintain own knowledge and competence by undertaking appropriate continuing professional development and clinical/non clinical supervision as needed
11. Inform the L&D Training Manager of any issues that are likely to adversely impact quality of client care and/or health and safety of employees
12. Complete training documentation for each course held
Tasks and projects as determined by Training Manager/Regional Clinical Lead and within the scope of the role.
What you'll have:
13. Current NMC Pin Registration - Registered General Nurse
14. A Legal right to work in the UK
15. Confidence when working within a team as well as self-motivated to work independently
16. Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills
17. Excellent organisational and time management skills
18. Adaptable and flexible approach to tasks
19. Computer literate; able to work with Microsoft power point
20. Independent, self-motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision
21. Up to date on best practice for interventions with clients who have spinal injuries, ABI, learning disabilities, neurological conditions.
Experience:
22. Previous experience working with people with Spinal Cord Injury, Acquired Brain Injury or long-term Neurological conditions, ideally in a community setting would be an advantage
23. Training qualification, Teaching & Assessing award, Mentorship award, Safer People Handling Trainer and /or Assessor, or be willing to work towards
24. Car owner with full UK driving license
Experience of completing neurogenic bowel management or the ability to train in this area so they are able to train/assess others in this task
Communication:
Regular contact with trainees and other members of the training team and other departments, requiring highly developed and well-practiced communication and inter personal skills.
Ability to be flexible in communication style depending on the audience and subject.
