Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead strategic initiatives within the financial services sector. The role involves managing complex, cross‑functional projects with enterprise‑wide impact, ensuring alignment between business goals and technology delivery. You will work closely with stakeholders across departments, including business teams, IT, support services, and senior leadership, to drive successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Lead end‑to‑end project delivery, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
* Establish and maintain project governance, ensuring stakeholder engagement and accountability.
* Facilitate planning sessions, status updates, and decision‑making forums with sponsors and steering committees.
* Oversee risk and issue management, change control, and project documentation.
* Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely and quality delivery.
* Provide clear and consistent reporting to senior leadership on project health and progress.
* Support operational alignment and process improvements across business units.
* Ensure project outcomes meet business objectives and compliance standards.
* Provide strong overall leadership to the project team.
* Leverage project team members and business data stewards to plan and deliver guidelines and operational processes, partnering with technology and business to improve data quality and use.
* Establish and oversee the implementation of project governance for data‑related projects, ensuring teams and committees are adequately involved.
* Coordinate data governance sessions and work with individuals to ensure effective implementation and ongoing data governance management.
* Manage project scope, timeline, and budget within agreed tolerances throughout the lifecycle.
* Create and adjust project plans in consultation with all stakeholders to meet objectives, managing trade‑offs between scope, quality, time, and cost.
* Provide timely project reporting for senior management, including status, plans, operational reports, and ad‑hoc reporting.
* Facilitate change management and decision‑making by Project Sponsor or Steering Committee.
* Produce project risk management plans to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
* Arrange the distribution of work within the company and to external contractors, providing instructions, advice, and direction to project team members.
* Ensure project deliverables meet stated requirements, are delivered to the required standard of quality and within specified constraints of time and cost.
* Work closely with the project team and other stakeholders to adhere to project change control policies and procedures.
* Exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions, manage resources, and coordinate activities in a cross‑team environment.
* Proactively identify potential risks and issues before they occur, developing mitigating strategies.
* Maintain risk and issue logs.
* Other duties and projects as assigned.
Preferred Skills & Experience
* Bilingual (French and English) communication skills, written and verbal.
* Experience in the financial sector, including credit unions.
* Finance and accounting knowledge.
Location & Working Hours
This role is open to candidates across Canada. Occasional adjustments to working hours may be required to accommodate meetings across time zones. The primary business unit is based in Halifax, and virtual governance updates may be expected.
Benefits
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The current range is $90,000.00 to $140,000.00. The role is an existing vacancy.
