Medical Typist - ENT

This role provides a high-quality and efficient medical typing service to consultants and junior medical staff, ensuring timely and accurate production of clinical documentation. Alongside typing duties, the post holder will support the smooth running of the office by managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and carrying out a range of general administrative tasks. Working as part of a busy team, the role requires a flexible and adaptable approach, including providing cover during periods of staff absence to maintain continuity of service.

Main duties
The role involves accurately inputting and maintaining data on Trust systems such as Careflow and PAS, ensuring records remain current, well‑organised and compliant with Trust procedures. It requires strong communication skills when working with colleagues, management and patients, as well as the transcription of clinic letters and complex medical documents into hospital systems while ensuring secure and efficient filing of both electronic and manual records.
Responsibilities include:
* Maintaining effective office and filing systems.
* Extracting patient and statistical information when needed.
* Ensuring all test results, investigations and correspondence are correctly recorded in patient notes and the EPR.
* Attending mandatory training and participating in ongoing personal development.
* Managing correspondence in line with GDPR.
* Assisting with stock control for stationery and patient information materials.
* Using judgement to support patient enquiries.
* Ensuring outpatient and inpatient correspondence is produced accurately and sent within agreed timescales.

Qualifications
* GCSE / O' Level English grades A to C or equivalent.
Experience
* Accurate spelling and understanding of medical terminology.
* Knowledge of NHS systems.
