About the Role
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded social housing provider in Essex, seeking an experienced and proactive Repairs Supervisor to lead a team of operatives delivering day-to-day responsive repairs and maintenance works across their housing stock.
This is a permanent, full-time role offering up to £43,000 per annum, ideal for someone with a strong background in housing maintenance, a good understanding of Schedule of Rates (SORs), and proven experience in managing operatives in the field.
You'll be responsible for ensuring high-quality workmanship, excellent customer service, and compliance with health & safety standards - all while keeping jobs on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise a team of directly employed operatives and/or subcontractors delivering responsive repairs, voids, and minor works
2. Monitor productivity, quality of work, and adherence to job specifications and timescales
3. Schedule and allocate jobs effectively using the organisation's job management systems
4. Carry out regular site visits, tool box talks, and quality inspections
5. Ensure all works are accurately scoped, costed, and coded using SORs
6. Liaise with residents, contractors, and internal teams to resolve issues promptly and professionally
7. Maintain accurate records of works completed, variations, and health & safety documentation
8. Support performance monitoring, reporting KPIs and ensuring continuous improvement
9. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and high standards within your team
Requirements
10. Proven experience as a Repairs Supervisor, Voids Supervisor, or similar role within social housing or property maintenance
11. Solid understanding of responsive repairs and voids processes
12. Ability to manage, motivate, and develop trade operatives and ensure high levels of performance
13. Strong knowledge of Schedule of Rates (SORs) and job costing
14. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
15. Confident in using IT systems including mobile working technology and job management platforms
16. A valid NVQ Level 3 (or above) in Construction Management - essential
17. Full UK driving licence
