RINA Aerospace & Defence (ASD UK) Consulting is offering an opportunity for a high-calibre and talented Aviation Systems Consultant to join our growing Defence Air Safety Assurance team. This specialist team delivers Airworthiness activities on behalf of national and overseas clients.
The Systems Assurance team is experiencing a breadth and variety of project work on some of the most technically advanced platforms in UK Defence, including unmanned air systems, Apache, Wildcat, Chinook, and Typhoon. The successful candidate will support and deliver Systems Engineering and Assurance projects for interconnected assets and platforms. You will also consult with and support clients in designing risk management frameworks.

The Role
The Aviation Systems Consultant should have a Systems Engineering background, especially in software engineering, with experience from Defence contractors or the MOD. The role offers intellectual and professional challenges across diverse projects.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the development of systems engineering arguments, including authoring, updating, reviewing, and auditing Safety Cases focused on system risks.
2. Engaging with client personnel at all levels to identify faults on platforms like remote pilot air systems.
3. Managing Systems Assurance projects throughout their full cycle, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
4. Conducting comprehensive Risk Management assessments and designing risk frameworks.
5. Ensuring assets are secure by design and information is available per JSP 940 standards.
6. Supporting Bid Management, including preparing commercial and technical proposals focused on Cyber Security.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
* At least 2 years of demonstrable experience in Defence programmes related to airworthiness and air platforms.
* Experience in systems engineering and risk management on air platforms.
* Familiarity with Defence Standards, such as Def Stans 00-970, 055, 056, and 326A series.
* Understanding of JSP 940 or 440, and the Military Aviation Authority’s MACP process.
* A graduate degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or Engineering is preferred.
* UK Security Clearance or eligibility to undertake the vetting process.
* Experience working for a Defence contractor, consultancy, or military background.
