Overview Clark Wood is working with a leading accountancy practice in Cardiff who are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join their growing private client tax team. This is a compliance‑focused position, offering the chance to manage a high‑quality portfolio whilst enjoying a balanced hybrid working arrangement in modern offices at Cardiff Gate.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, including high‑net‑worth individuals, company directors, landlords, and sole traders
Lead and review the preparation of Self Assessment tax returns and associated compliance work
Ensure compliance deadlines are met and that all work is completed to a high technical standard
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering clear and proactive communication
Review work prepared by junior staff and provide mentoring, training, and technical support
Identify potential advisory opportunities and liaise with senior leadership where appropriate
Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements
Contribute to internal process improvements and the development of best practice within the tax team
About You
CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
Strong background in personal tax compliance within an accountancy practice environment
Confident reviewing returns and managing a busy and varied client portfolio
Excellent communication and client relationship skills
Comfortable supporting and developing junior team membersProactive, well‑organised, and able to work effectively within a hybrid structure
