Assistant Patient Administrator – Inpatient Wards

We are recruiting for a Ward Clerk in one of our busy wards. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare to patients by providing administrative support to a diverse team, including clinical staff, doctors, practitioners and other healthcare professionals. The successful applicant will provide an excellent level of customer service at all times in line with the Trust values.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support and welcome patients into services in a way that meets their individual needs. The Staff member will work consistently to provide high quality customer service and will be professional at all times. The postholder will be required to work in one of the following areas, providing cross cover where necessary:
* Wards
* Reception

Employment is subject to a six-month probationary period.
Job responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to the clinical team and cover across the Trust's administrative resources.
* File all paperwork appropriately.
* Provide cover across the POD as and when required.
* Ensure all procedures are followed, including data capture for service-specific outcomes.
* Provide an excellent standard of service to patients at all times.
* Adhere to trust-wide standard operating procedures and policies for clinical administrative processes and participate in their development.
* Photocopying, filing.
* Greeting relatives as they enter the ward.
* Booking follow-up appointments.
* Booking Transport.
Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* English and Mathematics GCSE or equivalent
Experience
* Previous administrative experience.
* Experience of working within customer-driven service.
* Experience of Patient Administration System.
* Able to use a hospital Patient Administration System.
Skills & Knowledge
* Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
* Ability to work under supervision as part of a team.
* Good organisational skills to plan and prioritise workload.
* Willing to learn new systems.
* Knowledge of filing systems.
* Able to file accurately and pay attention to detail.
