They are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join their team in Ottawa.Your New RoleAs a Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation and security of our databases. This position involves managing high-availability environments for both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases. You will work under the direction of the Assistant Director of Database and Middleware Services to deliver high-quality database services.Key Responsibilities:
1. Database Installation and Maintenance:
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases in high-availability environments.
2. Performance Tuning:
Conduct database performance analysis and tuning to optimize system efficiency.
3. Backup and Recovery:
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to meet business service-level agreements.
4. Security Administration:
Ensure database security by controlling access and implementing data encryption.
5. Data Consistency:
Maintain data consistency by adhering to data model standards and best practices.
6. Schema Management:
Manage schema objects and perform production migrations.
7. Technical Support:
Resolve database-related technical issues and provide operational support to other DBAs.
8. Performance Monitoring:
Analyze system performance to identify bottlenecks and assess the impact of administrative tasks.
9. Collaboration:
Work with development DBAs on migration activities and disaster recovery testing.
What You'll Need to SucceedTo excel in this role, you should have:
10. Minimum 5 years of experience
In Database Administration with Oracle 19c, SQL Server 2019 or higher, and experience with Cloud SQL PaaS Services (specifically Azure).
11. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Oracle Exadata, Data Guard, RAC, Database Recovery Manager (RMAN), Datapump, and Oracle Advanced Security Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
12. Monitoring Tools:
Experience with EMCC (Oracle) and (Microsoft) for monitoring database operations.
13. Additional Skills:
Familiarity with Postgres SQL, MySQL, Azure Cosmos DB, andmvault is beneficial.
14. Certifications:
Relevant designations such as OCP or Azure certifications are advantageous.
15. Organizational Skills:
Demonstrated ability to organize effectively.
