The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions. We support an open, collaborative culture with state-of-the-art facilities to turn science into benefits for human health and the economy.

About the role

We are looking for a Laboratory Manager to join the Education team within the Public Engagement group. One of the Crick’s strategic priorities is to engage and inspire the public through public events and exhibitions, education outreach (EO), and community engagement programmes, backed by active research scientists who engage with the public. The role of the Laboratory Manager for Education is to ensure the smooth running of the education spaces, provide logistic support to the EO programme, and act as an approachable face of the EO programme for audiences and collaborators.

You will also work on procurement and budget assistance, oversee the budget, manage the team’s credit card, and monitor consumables for the EO programme.

This role may also contribute technical scientific knowledge to help develop science activities for the education programme, including preparation of equipment and reagents used in Crick experiments and those dispatched to schools.

Responsibilities also include maintaining databases of assets, tracking and replenishing equipment, and leading the Camden school equipment loan programme – promoting and managing the loan scheme.

A significant part of the role involves assisting with audience visits to the onsite Education lab, managing arrival and departure of school groups, supporting workshops, and acting as a welcoming face of the Crick’s Education programme.
