Post No. POSN005055 Parent Practitioner - Prevention and Inclusion 2 x 30 hour posts Fixed term until March 2027 (continuation of post will be subject to funding) We are recruiting 2 x Parent Practitioners to join our Parenting & Place Team, delivering targeted and universal parenting support to children, young people (aged 0-18) and their families across Newport. You will work directly with families in homes, community settings and group environments, providing evidence informed parenting interventions that support positive relationships, improve outcomes for children, and reduce escalation into statutory services. The role includes work linked to Out of Court Disposals (OOCD), young parents, and families with additional or complex needs, including neurodiversity and associated support needs. What you'll do: - Deliver 1:1 and group based parenting support - Manage a time limited caseload, responding to identified need - Work closely with partner agencies as part of a multi disciplinary approach - Promote positive parenting strategies in line with Welsh Government legislation - Maintain accurate case records and contribute to outcome monitoring - Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, following Council procedures You will have: - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Childcare, Education, Health, Social Care or a related field - Experience of working directly with families, including those harder to engage - An understanding of, or willingness to develop skills in, supporting families where neurodiversity is a factor, including adapting approaches to meet individual needs - Experience delivering parenting interventions both in the home and in group settings Desirable: - Experience working with older children / young people - Welsh language skills - Full UK driving licence For more information contact please Ann Price - Parenting Team Leader on 07483 381172 or Annmarie Wallwin - Parenting Team Leader on 07976 749130 Closing date: 1st June 2026 This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
