Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join our team at one of our Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging science lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of our students. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons that are differentiated to accommodate the varying abilities and learning styles of students with special educational needs. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate actively in their learning. Adapt teaching strategies and resources to address the specific needs of students with diverse learning requirements, including those with autism, learning disabilities, and behavioural challenges. Use a variety of instructional techniques, such as hands-on experiments, multimedia resources, and visual aids, to enhance student understanding and engagement in science concepts. Collaborate with colleagues, including teaching assistants and support staff, to ensure that individualised learning plans are implemented effectively, and student progress is monitored regularly. Assess student progress through a range of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to students and their families on their achievements and areas for improvement. Maintain accurate records of student progress, including assessment data, individualised education plans (IEPs), and behavioural observations, in accordance with school policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals, providing regular updates on student progress and working collaboratively to support each student’s holistic development. Stay abreast of developments in the field of special education and science education, participating in professional development opportunities and incorporating evidence-based practices into teaching and learning. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in education, Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification. Proven experience working as a Science Teacher in a special educational needs (SEN) setting. Strong understanding of different learning needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and behavioural challenges, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies accordingly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in education. Organisational skills and the ability to effectively plan and manage resources to meet the diverse needs of students. A reflective practitioner who is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
