Phlebotomist/Health Care Assistant (Clinical)
We are looking to recruit anenthusiastic phlebotomist or potential team member to join us and cover amaternity leave with a strong potential for long term employment. This role would be perfect for someonelooking to make a foray into General Practice or someone who is already aphlebotomist and is looking to extend their skills in a great workingenvironment. The Family Practicecurrently has over 17,500 patients making it a busy and rewarding environmentwhilst being part of a large but close-knit team. We are ideally looking for someone who hasexperience however we are prepared to train the right person. We are located close to the centre ofBristol, within walking distance from the centre and Whiteladies Road andeasily accessible by bus and train. Wealso have on-site parking.
The successful candidate will beworking 3-4 days a week preferably and the occasional Saturday for which plentyof notice will be given.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
To work alongside the clinicians in the provision of patientcare, and in accordance with the practiceprotocols & procedures. Having received appropriate training and theircompetency verified, the post holder will undertake the following tasks,referring to the treatment room Nurses, Nurse Manager and GPs as necessary.
Carrying out venepuncture as requested on ICE bythe GP, nurse or secondary care.
Recording routine and emergency ECGs asrequested by a GP
Measurements of height, weight, blood pressure,temperature, pulse, blood sugar, oxygen saturations, recording the results inthe Patients notes and being aware of normal ranges and when to alert a GP orNurse of unusual results
Carrying out annual mental health physicalchecks and bloods using the appropriate template & liaising with GP/Nurseabout booking their review.
Explaining and attaching 24hr blood pressuremachines as requested by a GP/Nurse
Act as a chaperone for GP/Nurse when needed
Assist clinicians in emergency management ofpatients as and when instructed
Be aware of and follow the infection controlpolicy
Work effectively as part of a team
About us
The Family Practice has a close knit team belonging to HealthWest PCN. We are located centrally and are easy to get to. We have a car park for those who drive and there is a discreet area for staff members to park their bikes who wish to cycle to work. Additionally we have lovely gardens to sit out in during the summer.
Job responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within theprofessional competence of the post holder, the Health Care Assistant will workalongside other clinical staff and provide services to patients registered withthe Practice. Assist in the smooth running of the treatment room, coil clinics andundertake allocated tasks, working within set protocols.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Ability to write clear concise notes
* Calm manner
* Enthusiasm to learn.
* Qualified in Phlebotomy
