Base pay range

The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting administrative officers across England and Wales. If you’re looking for a career with real purpose, this is an opportunity for you.

About the Crown Prosecution Service

At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 7,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the utmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.

About the role

Administrative officers provide vital support to departments across the organisation. You draft, monitor and record correspondence, helping us to work effectively and efficiently. You are the first point of contact for your team, responding professionally to queries and promptly escalating any issues. Your customer service helps to maintain positive relationships with criminal justice partners, external agencies and members of the public.

About you

You don’t need specific qualifications or experience to apply – if you share our values and commitment to public service, we’d like to hear from you. We provide full training and a range of learning and development opportunities to support your career progression. Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills are essential – including knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.

About our benefits

At the Crown Prosecution Service, we pride ourselves on providing benefits that ensure our employees’ needs are central. We want to ensure you can thrive at work and home, offering support to achieve a balance. This includes flexible working hours, flexibility to support caring responsibilities and a family‑friendly approach to work. We also offer a range of benefits including:

* flexible and family‑friendly working
* Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.9%
* 25 days leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays
