Simply Education are working very closely with our client to recruit a Full-time Humanities Teacher (History & Geography) for their brand-new Secondary SEND School, opening up in the Surrey area RH1. The school is set out to support pupils aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All of the pupils at the school have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students.
Key Duties:
Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
Collaboratively work with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum
Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual
Monitor, assess and review on the progress and work of the students to parents, senior staff, team members and so forth.
Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge
Skills and Experience:
Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal
Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students' progress
Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment
Ability to engage pupils in positive enabling relationships
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/PGCE/QTLS or equivalent) and evidence of in-service teaching
Desirable:
Postgraduate diploma in Autism
Previous experience working in a special school
Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum
