We’re looking for a proactive and capable Maintenance Officer to join our team at Field Studies Council Castle Head.
* Permanent full-time contract
* Average 37.5 hours per week - Weekly hours may vary, with more during busy periods and fewer in quieter weeks.

What you’ll be doing
* Ensuring all internal and external repairs to fabric and fittings are completed in a timely manner, using outside contractors if necessary
* Maintaining all internal systems such as heating and hot water, alarms, sewage system, electronic door locks, portable electrical equipment and other essential equipment
* Assisting with maintenance planning, including supporting the Maintenance Action Plan
* Undertaking routine inspection & monitoring work e.g. fire alarm & fire safety equipment checks
* Arranging MOTs, servicing and repairs to the learning location vehicles
* Overseeing disposal of waste, recycling and composting helping to keep the site clean and welcoming
* Setting up rooms and assisting other teams with practical tasks when needed
* This role also forms part of our duty/on‑call rota to support customers and respond to emergencies and will involve staying on site overnight on some occasions

Set within 20 hectares of South Cumbria countryside between Morecambe Bay and the Lake District, Castle Head is a diverse site surrounded by woodland, grassland and riverside habitats. It’s the kind of place where the day starts with beautiful views and a real sense of calm.
The centre accommodates up to 162 visitors and includes lounges, classrooms, a science lab, activity spaces, and outdoor areas such as campfire circles.
It is a scenic and uplifting place to work, with fresh air, natural beauty and the opportunity to help create a memorable experience for every visitor.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone with experience in both interior and exterior maintenance work who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and understands the Health & Safety responsibilities that come with this role.

* A full driving licence is essential, as you will be asked to drive our vehicles. To do so, you must be aged 21 years or over, have been driving for at least two years, and undertake an internal assessment on commencement in the role.
