Quality Engineer
Location: Bridgwater
Contract: Permanent
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations including ISO 9001:2015.
* Conduct thorough quality inspections and audits of products, processes, and systems to identify areas for improvement.
* Collaborate with the manufacturing team to establish quality checkpoints throughout the manufacturing process.
* Design and implement testing protocols and procedures to evaluate product performance and reliability.
* Analyse results and data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for optimisation.
* Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, including non-conformities and customer complaints.
* Lead initiatives to continuously improve quality standards, processes, and systems.
* Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes of quality issues.
* Drive cross-functional collaboration to optimise product design, manufacturing processes, and supplier quality.
* Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
* Prepare and present regular reports on quality performance metrics to management and stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with documentation requirements, including quality manuals and standard operating procedures.
* Evaluate supplier performance and capabilities for both external machine builds and purchased items to ensure adherence to quality standards and requirements.
* Establish quality criteria and specifications for incoming materials and components.
* Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve product quality throughout the supply chain.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in quality engineering or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Strong knowledge of quality management principles, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate quality-related information to diverse audiences.
* Detail oriented and organised, with a commitment to accuracy and precision in all quality-related activities.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.
* Ability to continuously seek opportunities for improvement.
* Willingness to travel to sub-contract machine builders in the UK and abroad.
