This crucial role is essential to ensure the continued development and operation of the Workforce Plan for the Guards and Catering grades; to ensure effective and accurate recruitment plans are produced for the business. The role works closely with the Head of Traincrew Strategy & functional managers to develop and implement a forward-facing strategy that utilises the full available workforce effectively.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. To develop and operate the Workforce Plan for which you are responsible.
2. To engage with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure robust and accurate updates to the Workforce Plans; disseminating valuable information to key parties as required.
3. Analyse Workforce Planning data to highlight risks to the business and report these risks to the Head of Traincrew Strategy and functional heads.
4. To support workforce planning peers in the completion of their duties. Ensuring competence in other areas to cover work requirements during leave and sickness.
5. To provide tailored support and reporting to the Head of On Board around workforce planning.
6. Working closely with regional and local managers, finance, recruitment, and other key stakeholders.
7. To assist and educate the wider management team in the Workforce Plan methodology.
8. Undertake projects to improve the overall business response to strategic challenges.
9. Assist in the optioneering and formulation of traincrew rosters at timetable change.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
10. An understanding of workforce / resource planning and associated models
11. Experience in communicating with all tiers of a large organisation and establishing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
12. Excellent analytical and numeracy skills and the ability to present complex data in simple terms.
13. Excellent logical skills and an ability to solve problems in a calm systemic manner.
14. Full computer literacy including relevant experience in different operating systems.
15. Knowledge of advanced Excel, ideally with experience in Power BI
About the location:
This role can be based anywhere on the GWR network with a minimum expectation of 2 days per week in Swindon. Opportunity to work flexibly around the needs of the role. You will also need to be available to travel around the GWR network when necessary.
Working Pattern:
Standard Office hours Monday to Friday. 37 hours per week.
