We are currently seeking someone at either a Graduate or Assistant Engineer level to join our Facades team where you'll support the delivery of façade engineering consultancy services under the supervision of senior engineers. The role provides structured exposure to façade systems, external wall fire performance, and building envelope design, with an emphasis on developing core engineering skills across structural, thermal, and fire performance disciplines.
Responsibilities.
* Participate in design meetings, contributing to discussions and presenting scheme calculations and sketches.
* Prepare design reports for various stages of the project, including concept, scheme, and detail.
* Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, environmental engineers, fire engineers, acousticians, and contractors.
* Assist in the preparation of technical reports, including external wall fire assessment reports, façade engineering notes, and supporting appendices.
* Participate in site inspections and intrusive surveys to establish external wall and façade build-ups, materials, fixings, and fire stopping provisions.
* Support the coordination and review of test evidence, certifications, and product data relevant to façade and external wall performance.
* Assist senior engineers with coordination between internal disciplines and external stakeholders.
* Attend site visits, design meetings, and client meetings as required, under supervision.
* Maintain accurate records, site notes, and project documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
Requirements And Qualifications
* A recognised degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in a built environment discipline (Façade Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or similar area)
* Basic understanding of building design and construction principles.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Willingness to learn and develop technical capability within a consultancy environment.
* Understanding of and some ability to use analysis software tools (structural or thermal) such as Strand7, ANSYS, Solid Works, Mepla, Vitrages, Bisco, Trisco, Builddesk or Flixo will be an advantage.
* Familiarity with international codes including European standards will be a plus.
Additional desirable qualifications or experience would include:
* Interest in façade engineering, external walls, and fire safety.
* Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
* Interest in thermal and/or structural aspects of façade performance.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
