Overview
An easy–going young 16-year old girl with ADHD and Autism who loves a chat needs a buddy to facilitate her inclusion in activities, in particular Riding for the disabled. This role would involve 3 hours support from 10.30am on a Wednesday which would entail picking her up at home in Cockburnspath and driving her to her RDA lesson which is fairly local.
Terms
* Hours per week: 3 hours
* Hours of work: 10.30-1.30 on a Wednesday
* £13.20 per hour.
* Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
* Probationary period of 6 months
* Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership
Job Description
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
* To support a disabled young person to help ensure their safety and well-being.
* To support with general care needs like eating and drinking
* To develop a positive relationship with the young person and her family.
* To interact with the client and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy.
* To support the young person to attend RDA lessons weekly, including driving them to and from here and home.
* To work alongside a parent or another member of the team when required but to work independently too
* To accompany the client on short trips out of the house for appointments or social activities

Skills and Experience
* Driver is essential for morning needs.
* Knowledge of Autism and ADHD is desirable although experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes, but they should be able to show some suitability for the role.
