Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. As an Area Manager, you’ll ensure your site runs smoothly so we can meet customer demand. You will lead a team that keeps our operations safe, efficient and high‑quality while taking on projects across our network to drive productivity.
Location: Stoke DST1 (Stoke)
Key Responsibilities
* Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
* Analyse and implement changes to keep quality and productivity consistently high.
* Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity and increase quality of service within your area of responsibility.
* Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives and take action to improve operational excellence.
* Work collaboratively with management‑level colleagues to standardise shift practices.
* Lead the On Road team and manage relationships with Delivery Service Partners.
A Day in the Life
You’ll work a shift pattern (Tuesday to Saturday) at one of our sites, ensuring it is as productive as possible. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety, uphold quality and shift performance standards, oversee process improvements within your area, and implement them. A typical day varies, from routine team management and daily operational responsibilities to process improvement and large‑scale operational contingency tasks. You’ll also serve as a mentor to new managers.
About the Team
Working within a high‑performing team in Stoke DST1. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) handles last‑mile delivery duties in partnership with third‑party distribution businesses. We use creative thinking and continuous improvement to get millions of products into customers’ hands. Our goal is to make the delivery experience as smooth as possible and roll out global solutions for concepts such as Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon Restaurants.
We have two sides to what we do. The ‘under the roof’ associates process millions of products for dispatch to delivery teams. The ‘on the road’ team works with a network of delivery contractors. Each year we raise the bar for customer experience with innovative services, new ideas to overcome logistics challenges and reduce our carbon footprint through technologies such as electric vehicles.
Basic Qualifications
* A degree.
* Relevant experience in people management.
* Relevant experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
* Relevant experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
* Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and local language.
Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques.
* Experience in another logistics environment.
* Experience with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment.
