About the Vacancy
An exciting vacancy has arisen within ‘Foxgrove’, the new National Secure Adolescent In‑Patient Service (NSAIS) at Ayrshire Central Hospital. Foxgrove is a new specialist medium secure mental health service for young people, age 12‑18, who are liable for detention for assessment and treatment of mental disorder under relevant sections of the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003; or Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995. All patients admitted to the service will be considered to present a significant risk of harm to others and some may also pose a risk of harm to themselves.
We are now inviting forward‑thinking, motivated Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner in Speciality with an understanding of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and/or Forensic Mental Health with relevant experience. (This is a fixed‑term post to cover maternity leave for 12 months).
What You Will Do
Deliver a high standard of clinical care to young people accessing Foxgrove, directly and through work with the multi‑disciplinary team within the Service. Work with a range of complex needs, focused around mental health difficulties and neuro‑developmental conditions. The role requires flexibility, including weekend work as clinically appropriate (no night‑shift cover). This post also attracts a Recruitment and Retention Premia.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality occupational therapy services to young patients.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
* Develop and implement individualized care plans.
* Provide clinical supervision where required.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
* Participate in audits, research and service improvement.
Knowledge, Training and Experience Required
* Pre‑reg MSc/BSc in Occupational Therapy.
* Post‑graduate training in relevant speciality, or experience equivalent to a Masters level (including inpatient and outpatient experience).
* Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Special Interest Groups.
* Substantial and varied clinical experience at an advanced level in a relevant speciality.
* Current Health and Care Professions Council registration.
* Evidence of excellence in clinical knowledge and skills.
* Excellent communication skills, especially with multi‑agencies.
* Evidence of clinical leadership and supervision.
* Committed to team & personal development with evidence of self‑directed learning.
* Good teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently, using initiative, and to cope well under pressure.
* Effective organisational and time‑management skills.
* Advanced skills in research & audit.
Hours and Contract
30 hours per week, fixed‑term 12 months. Please note this job is a fixed term for 12 months. Secondment opportunity would be considered.
Driving Licence
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
