A vacancy has arisen for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant to join our large and dynamic Physiotherapy department.
Role Overview
The Physiotherapy Assistant role supports registered Physiotherapy staff by carrying out rehabilitation alongside and under the direction of the physiotherapists. The role also includes other healthcare related tasks, such as assisting patients with personal care, washing, dressing and feeding, and basic administration duties including equipment ordering and sending referrals.
The post is rotational and will involve working predominantly in an inpatient setting at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This will give opportunities to work in multiple specialties across inpatients, and may include Trauma and Orthopaedics, Cardiothoracics, Neurosciences, Specialist Surgery, Medicine and Older adults. There is also one rotation in Musculoskeletal Outpatients.
Training is provided at both rotation specific and general Band 3 level. There are opportunities to develop skills, including working towards a Band 4 post in certain areas.
Interview Process
This will be a 2-stage interview process, the first stage will be a virtual interview, the second stage will be face to face interviews which you MUST be able to attend in person. Please note, if you are unsuccessful at stage one, you will not be invited to the second stage.
Responsibilities
* Carrying out rehabilitation tasks under the direction of physiotherapists.
* Assisting with patient care including toileting, washing, dressing, and feeding.
* Basic administration duties such as equipment ordering and sending referrals.
* Making telephone calls and speaking with relatives of patients.
* Assisting with mobility and exercise activities, specific patient treatments, and dealing with equipment.
Qualifications
Applicants must have experience of working within healthcare. Applicants must have proven communication skills, and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team. They must also be able to work independently with guidance.
