Overview
Salisbury Emergency Department is seeking a Band 7 Senior Sister / Charge Nurse as part of a period of transition with a new senior leadership team in post. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape changes in emergency care and pathways and to feel the tangible differences you can make.
We are developing our services within Urgent and Emergency care, including the potential development of a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre. The post includes opportunities to expand leadership skills as you will manage a junior team and contribute to OD&P elements of managing junior staff. A Band 7 development program is being designed with support to train and work alongside the coach house in change management to broaden experience. Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust serves a mostly rural population and is a designated Trauma Unit with a track record in handling major incidents, currently seeing approximately 50,000 patients per year.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Demonstrate expert knowledge in emergency nursing and translate this into effective nursing practice.
* Be a team player with proven leadership abilities; be energetic, proactive and committed to your own professional development and that of others.
* Work in partnership with the ED Matron to manage and provide leadership to the nursing team; collaborate with the Lead Clinician, ED Service Manager and the wider ED Senior team to continuously improve and develop the service.

Experience and knowledge
Essential
* Demonstrable experience at band 6 level in Emergency Nursing
* Experience of Leading a Team
* ALS or demonstrable experience
* TNCC or equivalent
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification
* Registered Nurse educated to/willingness to undertake Masters Degree in health-related subject
* Post Registration qualification in Emergency Nursing
* Completion of Advanced Life Support and European Paediatric Advanced Life Support
* Competent understanding of OD and People Policies
