Electrical Resident Engineer
JOB LOCATION: Devonport Royal Dockyard
SECURITY: SC is Must
DURATION: 12-18+ Months (Possibility for Extensions)
TYPE: Contract
WORK PATTERN: Mon –Fri – Full time onsite/ Open to 4 days compressed
PAY RATE: £ 60 - £ 65 /hr (Umbrella Inside IR35)
• Full time (4 - 5 days a week on site)
• Role for the next 12 – 18 months
• Ideally has electrical power experience
• Needs to have some (2 years+) experience in site based role not necessarily as a Resident engineer.
• Needs current SC clearance to gain access to SRC.
• Be confined space trained or prepared to complete confined space training and entering the subways.
1.0 Primary Purpose
The purpose of the post is:
Ensure the delivery of site Quality by managing, providing advice and support, and witnessing the installation and commissioning process through construction works in the submarine refit complex. Primary focus will be Electrical activity. You will be accountable to the Lead Construction Manager for day to day planning matters.
You will assist the construction and Project team by providing advice and communicating with contractors and relevant internal stakeholders to resolve site issues/ Technical Queries during construction in line with contract timescales.
You will ensure the contractor adheres to the Scope of works and Change requests. You will undertake and record inspections to ensure adherence to scope and integrated test plans.
The post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit.

The Post Holder has no responsibility for any Systems, Structures, Plant or Equipment.
4.0 Principal Tasks and Responsibilities
EMPLOYEE principal tasks and responsibilities are:
4.1 Ensure the delivery of site Quality by managing, providing advice and support, and witnessing the installation and commissioning process through construction works in the submarine refit complex.
4.2 Participate in the problem solving for development of technical solutions to deficiencies or in the development of designs to overcome installation problems.
4.3 You will be accountable to the Lead Construction Manager for day-to-day planning matters.
4.4 You will assist the construction and Project team by providing advice and communicating with contractors and relevant internal stakeholders to resolve site issues/ Technical Queries during construction in line with contract timescales.
4.5 You will ensure the contractor adheres to the Scope of works and Change requests.
4.6 You will undertake and record inspections to ensure adherence to scope and integrated test plans.
4.7 Supervise and provide on-the-job guidance to the junior staff.
4.8 Make effective use of Learn from Experience information to develop and disseminate knowledge in relation to practical engineering and to maintain a record of development to substantiate the skills achieved.
4.9 Support development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of Facilities to ensure that they comply with the design intent and DNSP's for Nuclear related Works, together with all relevant Local and National Regulations and Legislation.
5.1 Support the on-site inspection of DRDL assets for their construction, maintenance and modification
5.2 Maintain familiarity with DRDL procedures used within Facilities Engineering
