The Role
As an Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our night operation, leading warehouse, transport, and van network performance. Working any 5 nights over 7 (typically 22:00 – 09:00, depending on volumes), you’ll ensure the depot runs efficiently, safely, and on budget.
You’ll partner closely with Hubs, Transport, and Delivery teams to deliver an end-to-end service, while supporting and deputising for the Depot General Manager. From managing costs and driving productivity, to developing your team and ensuring compliance—you’ll have the autonomy to make a real difference every shift.
Responsibilities
1. Deliver the depot operational plan in line with budget, forecasted volumes, and performance targets
2. Drive productivity and manage costs including labour, resource planning, and cost-per-unit (CPU)
3. Maintain high operational standards through compliance with 5S, H&S, and quality audits
4. Ensure high scanning compliance across inbound, outbound, and driver operations
5. Support transport compliance including driver rotas and Working Time Directive adherence
6. Lead and develop your team across recruitment, performance, engagement, and employee relations

7. Full UK Driving Licence, CPC National Certificate, and IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
8. Proven experience managing large teams in a 24/7 fast-paced logistics or operational environment
9. Strong understanding of transport regulations, SLAs, and operational processes
10. Confidence using Excel and MI tools to drive performance and decision-making
11. Excellent leadership, communication, and people development skills
12. Resilience, commercial awareness, and the ability to perform under pressure
