Job Overview
We are looking for a Health Care Support Worker to work within a community nursing team in clinics across Braintree, Maldon, and Chelmsford, supporting adults with the management of leg ulcers. This role requires experience or interest in wound care and involves assisting registered staff in ensuring appropriate pathways of care for patients who require these services. The role includes assessment and treatment of individual patients on the caseload, communication of changes in care needs to registered staff, and collaboration with patients, relatives, carers and health care professionals to support an integrated, holistic approach to patient care.
Main duties
* Able to work alongside a multidisciplinary group of health professionals.
* Able to work independently and autonomously undertake clinical and non-clinical tasks.
* Possessing observational and communication skills that complement the role.
* Possess basic computer skills.
* Willing to develop in the role and adjust responsibilities as the service grows and transforms.
* Car driver with access to a car.
Eligible for NHS pension.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Car driver.
* Basic IT skills.
* Experience of working in a health or care environment.
* Understanding of professional conduct.
* Information Governance awareness.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload under supervision of a registered nurse.
* Effective time management skills.
* Effective demonstration of communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work with others.
Desirable criteria
* Community experience.
* Previous experience of wound care/leg ulcers.
* Discreet, helpful, empathetic, friendly.
