In this role you will prepare and assess new lending proposals for approval, in support of the provision of loans to our Partnership. Our Partner Loan Book exceeds £900m and financial assessment (underwriting) is an essential part of ensuring new loans are appropriate for borrowers needs and situations.
The role will require supporting the Lending Managers within the New Lending team with insight and analysis into each borrower’s financial position. This will include analysing historic accounts, identifying trends in revenue and costs as well as sense checking financial forecasts and projections supplied.
Manage and control the Bridging pipeline between BSP Completions through to the funding with Santander on a monthly basis and provide the Head of NL&U with MI on the monthly balances. Furthermore, to work with internal and external stakeholders who coordinate initial case paperwork ahead of submission for underwriting / credit approval and also support provision of additional information where needed to support placement of loans with our external lenders
The role is also responsible for supporting the management of credit risk across the Groups lending activities, with a particular focus on managing relationships with Partners and Advisers who will no longer be members of the Partnership. The Individual will have a good working relationship with a wide variety of teams across SJP, ensuring that relevant parties remain informed.
What you'll be doing:
1. Assess affordability of Partner loan applications for approval by Lending Managers.
2. Preparation / issue of lending deeds and documents (via coordination with SJP Legal as needed) as required ensuring compliance with FCA, CCA and Companies House records (where necessary).
3. Working with external lenders to minimise use of SJP funds used in bridging BSP transactions in line with KPI’s / targets.
4. Manage and control the Bridging pipeline between BSP Completions through to the funding with Santander on a monthly basis.
5. Liaise (as necessary) with the SJP Partnership at all levels to aide conversations around lending.
6. Work with members of the Partner Finance team to ensure loans to the Partnership are repaid and credit losses are minimized. This will include reviewing individual lending positions and providing settlement figures, identifying and tracking required actions and actioning the final repayment of debt via payments from the borrower.
7. Exercise AIP discretionary Sign Off level of (TBC) on Fundable Applications whilst adhering to SLA measures.
8. Exercise BD Sign Off level of (TBC) on Fundable Applications whilst adhering to SLA measures.
9. Preparation of Re-Financing loan requests from application stage through to completion liaising with all relevant stakeholders including; Partners, Consultancy and PLFinance to ensure these are executed in a timely manner and within targeted SLA’s.
10. Assist in underwriting MBI/MBO transactions as well as analysing the CashFlow forecasts produced by Corporate Finance to ensure responsible lending decisions are made.
11. Handling bespoke, last minute requests whilst maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
