Environmental Services Manager
Northamptonshire
£300 per day Umbrella LTD / £250 per day PAYE
37 hours per week | Ongoing temporarycontract
We’re working with a forward-thinking Local Authority in the East Midlands who are on the lookout for an experienced and proactive Environmental Services Manager to lead the delivery of a major joint venture delivering core frontline services such as waste collection, street cleansing, grounds maintenance and related operations.
You’ll be based at the depot in Towcester but will have flexibility to work from other offices across the patch (Northampton, Daventry, and home working – 2 to 3 days per week).
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead performance management of a major Joint Venture contract delivering high-profile environmental services.
* Manage a direct report (Environmental Services Officer) while overseeing service quality, statutory compliance, and operational risk.
* Ensure services are delivered effectively and meet agreed KPIs, through robust data analysis, inspections, and budget management.
* Represent the service in high-level meetings with delivery partners and senior stakeholders.
* Support service reviews and transformation work, contributing data, insight and hands-on leadership.
* Provide professional advice on environmental service delivery and future service models.
What You’ll Need:
* Proven experience in contract and service management within environmental/waste services – ideally in a local authority setting.
* Strong commercial and customer insight, with the ability to handle complex issues and deliver service improvements.
* Confident communicator, with experience working with stakeholders including Members and Joint Venture partners.
* Comfortable working both strategically and operationally, with a visible, hands-on leadership approach.
* Degree level education or equivalent experience in Waste Management, Environmental Services or Civil Engineering.
* Driving licence and willingness to travel across sites is essential.
