Dog Groomer / Animal Care Trainer Coach (Assessor / Tutor)
Key Details
* Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
* Location: Midlands (Wellingborough)
* Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent
* Pay: £26,000.00 – £33,000.00 per year
Summary of Role
Due to continued growth within our commercial offering, we are looking to strengthen our delivery team with a new member based around the Buckinghamshire/Bedfordshire area. This opportunity is for someone with a passion for supporting learners with special educational needs (SEN) and working within an Ofsted ‘Good’ Government‑Funded Work‑Based Training Provider.
The chosen candidate will be a high‑performing, qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a team and delivers high‑quality service to all concerned parties.
Responsibilities
* Enrolment / induction and initial assessment
* Specialist equine & animal care teaching, learning and assessment
* Coaching / mentoring
* Delivery of Functional Skills English and math
* Supporting the wider curriculum (PREVENT, British Values, Safeguarding, ICT, Information Advice and Guidance, etc.)
* Correct completion of mandatory paperwork to evidence all aspects of the learner journey to an auditable standard
* Work closely with learners and employers and report to the Alternative Provision Lead
* Receive full support from an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to ensure high quality throughout the delivery of the programme
Essential Industry Specific Qualifications and Experience
* Up‑to‑date, relevant and broad experience working in the Dog Grooming sector
* Passion for work‑based learning
* Up‑to‑date, relevant, deep and broad experience of working within the animal industry
* Experience at a level within the animal industry that is above Level 3
* Experience in the occupational area of the apprenticeships including practical and current knowledge of working practices, infrastructure, tools and technologies to support applications
* Occupational competence with a comprehensive and proven track record of service in the animal industry supported by a detailed and documented CPD record
* Extensive knowledge and experience of animal anatomy, physiology and welfare
* Extensive knowledge and experience of animal behaviour and nutrition
* Demonstrable knowledge of safe working practices in an animal care environment including routine duties and animal husbandry
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum Level 3 Dog Groomer qualification or equivalent
* Experience working within the animal care sector
* Commitment to continuous professional development relevant to the industry area being assessed
Essential Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent integrity and interpersonal skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with substantial experience of providing supportive, concise feedback to learners, assessors and key stakeholders
* Ability to offer guidance on careers advice and next steps after completing an Apprenticeship
* Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
* Proficient IT skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
* Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
* A Full UK Driving Licence with Business Cover Insurance (proof of insurance will be requested upon offer)
* Holding or working towards an assessor qualification (A1/A2/D32/D33/TAQA or equivalent qualification)
* Level 2 Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT
* Experience of preparing for and presenting to a target audience
* Experience of marking and grading assessments
* Relevant teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) or Education and Training Level 3 or 4
* Experience of working with and maintaining quality assurance processes and complying with regulatory requirements
* An understanding of Apprenticeship Standards, with specific knowledge about the relevant industry area for the role
* Experience of producing clear, accurate and concise written reports, including remarks/enquiries about results
* Analytical, critical thinking skills
