This role includes national and international travel, as well as some time spent in London or Somerset.\n\nJob Role\n\nA TSCM (Technical Surveillance Countermeasures) Engineer is responsible for protecting sensitive information and communications from unauthorized surveillance. They perform TSCM Services to detect and neutralize threats such as bugs, eavesdropping devices, and other forms of surveillance used to gather intelligence or conduct espionage.\n\nSkills Required\n\nProven experience of TSCM and an ability to hit the ground running with global deployments\nInformed of current and emerging espionage threats, vulnerabilities, trends and report and share with the wider team.\nDevelop extensive knowledge and experience of researching, handling and maintaining the TSCM equipment.\nStrong understanding of wireless and wired communication systems.\nAbility to use technical surveillance detection equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, NLJD).\nFamiliarity with encryption technologies and methods of secure communications.\nStrong experience in the use of IT including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and data input onto databases.\nAbility to detect and analyze complex technical issues related to surveillance.\nQuick thinking and adaptability when responding to threats or incidents.\nAbility to carefully examine environments and communications for subtle or hidden surveillance devices.\nAbility to produce clear, comprehensive reports and communicate findings to clients or senior management.\nStrong interpersonal skills to work with clients, security teams, and other stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:\n\nSurveillance Detection and Countermeasures\nConduct physical and electronic sweeps for surveillance devices (bugs, cameras, tracking devices, etc.) in high-security areas.\nUtilize specialized equipment like spectrum analyzers, non-linear junction detectors (NLJD), and thermal cameras to identify surveillance threats.\nProvide recommendations for protecting physical spaces and communication systems against eavesdropping.\nRisk Assessment\nAssess risks associated with electronic surveillance in client or company environments.\nAdvise clients on how to mitigate vulnerabilities related to their security systems, communication methods, and operational procedures.\nSystem Implementation and Testing\nDesign, install, and configure counter-surveillance systems.\nTest and calibrate security equipment to ensure it is functioning optimally and remains effective against evolving threats.\nIncident Response:\nInvestigate potential surveillance breaches and respond to incidents where a threat is detected.\nWork with other departments (such as IT or physical security) to develop an appropriate response strategy.\nSecurity Consultations:\nProvide technical advice to clients regarding security policies and best practices for preventing eavesdropping or other forms of covert surveillance.\nTrain staff members on proper security measures to ensure ongoing protection.\nReporting:\nCreate detailed reports documenting the results of TSCM sweeps, including findings, analysis, and recommended actions.\nMaintain accurate records of performed surveys and inspections.\nResearch and Development:\nStay up-to-date on the latest surveillance technology and countermeasure techniques.\nContinuously improve and update TSCM practices in response to emerging threats
