Are you a caring and committed individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with learning disabilities? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established residential children’s home in Burton upon Trent, supporting young people with additional needs to thrive in a nurturing, supportive environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about care work and wants to be part of a dedicated team making a genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide compassionate day-to-day care and support to children with learning disabilities
* Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing, and feeding
* Encourage participation in educational and recreational activities both at home and in the community
* Support the emotional development of children through positive relationships and consistent care
* Help implement and follow individual care plans
* Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic support
* Monitor and record behaviours, progress, and care needs
* Maintain a safe and nurturing environment at all times
* Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support techniques
* Take part in ongoing training and team development sessions
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with children, ideally with learning disabilities or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
* Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) is an advantage
* Empathetic, calm, and patient approach
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties
* Full UK driving licence (essential) – must include business insurance
