Research Phlebotomists/Healthcare Support Workers - Greater Edinburgh
Pulse AHP’s Phlebotomy Team is recruiting experienced Phlebotomists/Healthcare Support Workers for a role in the Greater Edinburgh area. The project starts in early April and will be ongoing.
These roles provide Phlebotomy and Healthcare Research services across mobile sites, with responsibilities that include measuring physical parameters, drawing blood samples, checking participant welfare and preparing samples for courier. You will work locally within Greater Edinburgh, moving between sites every 5–6 weeks.
Key details:
* Position: Phlebotomist/Healthcare Support Worker
* Location: Greater Edinburgh
* Hours: Part‑time, shift‑based (ideally 2–3 days per week, 2 days minimum). Shift patterns vary. Weekend hours are shorter.
* Duration: Ongoing, starting April.
* Pay: Up to £19 per hour (umbrella rate), weekend enhancements apply.
* Vehicle: Ability to drive is highly desirable due to mobile sites.
Essential skills
* At least 12 months of recent phlebotomy experience.
* Proof of competency is desirable.
* Driver’s licence and willingness to travel between mobile units.
Main responsibilities
* Take height, weight and waist measurements, heart rate and blood pressure checks, and enter results into the system.
* Collect and label two blood samples per participant, and store them correctly.
* Monitor participant welfare throughout the appointment and raise any issues to the supervising nurse.
* Provide signposting, advice and guidance to participants as required.
* Prepare collected samples for courier collection at shift end.
Essential requirements
* Phlebotomist with minimum 12 months of recent experience.
* Willingness to fully register with our agency.
This work is part of a large health research programme designed to help people live healthier lives for longer. Volunteers provide physical measurements, blood samples and lifestyle data to aid in disease prevention, early detection and treatment.
