Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust
CAMHS Nurse
The closing date is 28 May 2026
North Yorkshire and York Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services are seeking to recruit a part‑time (22.5 hours per week) CAMHS Nurse to work in Northallerton. This post requires the candidate to have a professional registration as a child, mental health or learning disability nurse.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, well‑motivated, forward‑thinking clinician to work as part of our team – working with young people with mental health problems living in Northallerton and the Richmond area.
We cover a rural part of North Yorkshire with limited public transport links, therefore it is crucial applicants are capable of independent travel to support young people within our community.
Whether you are an experienced Registered Nurse or a Newly Registered Nurse, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a service that puts patient care first. You will have the time and support to make a real difference every day.
Student Nurses who are due to register in the next 3 months are very welcome to apply. Full training and a preceptorship programme will be provided to help you build confidence and develop your career in this specialist area.
You must have the right to work in the UK to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa, and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
Main duties of the job
The team is multi‑disciplinary and provides specialist assessments, treatment and interventions for young people suffering from moderate to severe complex emotional, behavioural and psychological issues resulting in mental health problems.
Ideally the candidate will have experience working with children and young people, although the team is currently able to help staff develop the knowledge and experience within CAMHS and offer additional training appropriate to the role.
If you enjoy working within a team passionate about children and young people’s mental health, enjoy a challenge, have a flexible approach and are confident in your own clinical decision‑making skills, we would like to hear from you. You will work with a range of professionals from various agencies including social care, acute care and community and voluntary sector partners.
Job responsibilities
The role can be demanding but also highly rewarding; you will need to be motivated, resilient and passionate about working with this client group. The role requires an individual who can manage their own caseload, with an emphasis on brief therapy as well as longer‑term specialist intervention.
Refer to the attached job description and person specification for further detailed information to ensure that you meet the role criteria before applying.
Informal visits and calls are welcomed prior to applying.
