The Role: Senior Support Worker
As a Senior Support Worker at Kudos Support, you’ll play a critical leadership role in shaping the lives of young people aged 16+, many of whom are navigating complex life experiences, including care history, neurodivergence, trauma, or social vulnerability. You’ll be at the heart of a new service that prioritises emotional stability, independence, and personal growth — and your influence will help set the tone for everything we do.
As part of our team, you will:
* Deliver compassionate, person-centred support to young people, helping them build confidence, develop resilience, and form trusting relationships with positive adult role models.
* Support young people in developing essential life skills such as meal preparation, budgeting, cleaning, time management, and health and hygiene routines, with a coaching mindset.
* Respond to behavioural challenges calmly and professionally, using trauma-informed approaches, de-escalation strategies, and restorative practice to support emotional regulation and growth.
* Act as a role model and team leader, guiding and mentoring a team of support workers to uphold the highest standards of care, engagement, and professionalism at all times.
* Coordinate and contribute to care and support planning, risk assessments, and daily reporting to ensure compliance, safety, and meaningful progress for each young person.
* Promote a safe, supportive, and structured home environment, balancing warmth with clear boundaries to help young people feel secure and empowered.
* Support team rota management, communication, and shift planning, ensuring consistency and continuity of care.
* Liaise with external professionals such as social workers, education providers, and healthcare teams to advocate for the best outcomes for each young person.
* Work flexibly on a 1-on-2-off rota, including regular sleep-in shifts and the ability to adapt to service needs.
What We’re Looking For
* Minimum of 1 year’s experience in children’s services (e.g., residential care, youth work, pastoral support).
* QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
* Experience supporting individuals with autism or neurodivergence.
* Ability to demonstrate competence in supporting young people towards independence.
* Resilience, dependability, and a proactive approach to challenges.
* Computer literacy and the ability to coach young people in life skills, including cooking.
* Willingness to undergo face-to-face interviews at our Telford office.
