Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist

We are looking for an experienced nurse with a background in wound care to join our evolving Tissue Viability Team at Colchester Hospital/North Essex Community, providing evidence-based specialist advice for patients with complex wounds, including pressure ulcer care and management.
Key responsibilities include training and education, pressure ulcer validation, and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
* Assist the Tissue Viability Service Leads in providing evidence-based TV services across ESNEFT within a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
* Educate clinical staff, optimise resource use, and promote zero tolerance to the occurrence of pressure ulcers.
* Contribute to a Harm Free Care service across the Trust and promote safer care within the Harm Free specialities.
* Act as a skilled, knowledgeable Tissue Viability resource, working autonomously within agreed competencies and fostering collaborative relationships across professional boundaries.
* Ensure the patient safety agenda informs the management and development of the service, including reviewing pressure damage occurring in Trust care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse recorded on Part 1 of the NMC register
* Wound care qualification or post-registration CPD in this area
* Teaching/Assessing qualification
Experience
* Sound knowledge of current trends within Tissue Viability and pressure ulcer prevention
* Experience facilitating change, improving processes, and promoting learning at work
* Regular experience in wound assessment
* Experience working at Band 6 level or evidence of working at that level
* Ability to undertake research
* Ability to undertake audit
* Involvement in service review and development
Knowledge and Skills
* Teaching and presentation skills
* Effective verbal and written communication at all organisational levels
* Accurate IT skills and ability to analyse information from database systems
* Ability to analyse audit and research reports
* Ability to work autonomously using initiative and judgement without supervision
* Ability to manage own time and priorities effectively
* Ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly to inform decision making
