As an IT Operations Principal, you will play a key leadership role, guiding and supporting multidisciplinary teams while overseeing the design and delivery of high-quality IT Operations services.
Our IT Operations teams are responsible for managing core IT Service Management functions, including Service Desk, Incident, Change, Configuration, and Service Management. This includes the IT Operations Centre, which provides 24/7 monitoring and management of critical live services, and the Service Architecture & Design team, which ensures robust service designs and the safe transition of projects into live environments.
What will you be doing?
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
* Overseeing the effective running of your team, taking accountability for activities and outcomes within your area.
* Ensuring the development and communication of comprehensive IT Operations processes and procedures to inform IT Operations activities.
* Developing, implementing and communicating the IT Operations strategy. Driving a knowledge management culture, mentoring and coaching your team leaders, sharing knowledge and expertise, building in-house capability via a professional community of practice.
* Overseeing initiatives to improve IT Operations performance and efficiency, including ongoing research and testing of the latest IT Operations technologies and processes to further improve IT Operations services.
* Building, maintaining and managing relationships with the Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession and Home Office leaders, and relevant suppliers.
* Acting as the main point of contact for IT Operations your area for a wide range of suppliers and senior stakeholders, both internal and external engaging across the Home Office.
* Supporting the management of the IT Operations cost centre, providing input to budgeting, financial management. Ensuring services are measured and reported on at a senior level and driving a culture of continual service improvement across IT Operations.
* Ensuring new / updated services are effectively onboarded as required, ensuring your teams undertake the necessary training to upskill
Your skills for this role
As IT Operations Principal you will have experience of:
* Proven experience leading large multidisciplinary teams, with deep expertise in Oracle Fusion and a strong track record of developing and adhering to ITIL v3/v4 processes and procedures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally and effectively across all levels of the organisation.
* Skilled in managing and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, building credible relationships at senior levels to support strategic delivery.
* In-depth knowledge of IT operations, combined with a proactive approach to learning new technologies and maintaining up-to-date industry insight.
* Experienced in developing and executing strategy for IT Operations functions, aligning service delivery with organisational goals.
* Commercially and contractually astute, with a strong ability to manage supplier agreements and ensure cost-effective, value-driven service provision.
* Exceptional pension: Employer contribution of 28.97%.
