We are a joint Community Children’s Nursing and Psychology Service supporting children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and those meeting Children’s Continuing Care criteria. We help families through every stage of their journey, enhancing quality of life and providing outstanding care at home and in the community.
Our team is based at Kingswood Hub and provides services across BNSSG, with additional support in BANES. We care for children and young people aged 0 to 19, ensuring they and their families feel supported, valued and understood.
The role includes nights, weekends and office-based working. Full time and part time roles available. Suitable for Support Workers with extensive experience with children or in the community, Nurse Associates, and Assistant Practitioners.
Main duties of the job
Work in the Continuing Care team to undertake clinical shifts, usually alongside Lifetime support workers (LSW) in the child’s home or school setting. Observe LSW clinical competencies and undertake annual clinical assessments to enable them to provide clinical interventions to children and families meeting Continuing Care Criteria (Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and B&NES).
Line management of a small team of LSWs, including 6 weekly one‑to‑one meetings, performance development reviews and supporting attendance reviews in accordance with Sirona’s policies and procedures.
Work alongside the nursing team to develop and provide training and assessments to groups of LSWs.

Qualifications & Training
* Level 2 maths and English
* Nursing Associate registration
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
Skills, experience and knowledge
* Experience of working with children with complex health needs
* Experience performing safe and effective clinical skills e.g. tracheostomy care, monitoring, vital observations, suctioning, enteral feeding
* Range of IT skills including electronic communication and clinical records systems
* Ability to work unsupervised
* Experience as a support worker in a community environment

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
