Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join the Surgery Pharmacy Team at the Royal London Hospital. The Surgery Division provides a range of emergency and elective surgical services to the local and wider North East London communities.
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as a Specialist Pharmacist in Elective Surgery to deliver patient-focused, quality care, based primarily at the Royal London Hospital. Their primary role will be to look after the elective surgery ward, day surgery unit, and to work as a specialist pharmacist across the elective pathway, covering other areas of the service as required. They will also support across theatres, pain and anaesthetic services alongside the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics.
Responsibilities
* Lead and provide medicines reconciliation services, medicines optimisation, specialist pharmacist input and pharmacy transcribing services across the elective surgery wards, supporting other surgery division wards and services as needed.
* Support more junior staff, including trainee and foundation pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to provide excellent, person-centred service delivery alongside MDT colleagues.
* Be flexible, forward thinking and possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills for everyday contact with a range of multi-professional colleagues.
* Promote responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within surgery, peri-operative care and pain to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and improve medicines safety.
* Lead a team of staff in the delivery of high quality clinical, professional and technical pharmacy service to the specialty, in collaboration with the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics.
